Insight Partners

Insight was founded in New York in 1995 by Jeffrey Horing and Jerry Murdock. Insight has raised 25 private equity funds, all focused on investing in high-growth companies in the software, XII software-enabled services and Internet sectors, via strategies that include Private Equity, Junior Equity, Private Debt and Public Equity.
Insight's investment strategy focuses on Software as a Service (SaaS) subscription models that offer a high level of recurring revenues. Since its creation, Insight funds have invested in over 750 companies in the software sector.
In 2000, Insight founded Insight Onsite ("Onsite"), its own operational team, to support the growth of its development-stage companies.
The Onsite team comprises around 136 experts and is structured as a software company with "Centers of Excellence" dedicated to talent recruitment, products and technologies, marketing, sales, business development, customer success, as well as growth strategy and due diligence.
Impressive resources dedicated to the software sector
Insight Partners stands out for its structured approach and in-depth expertise in SaaS software sub-sectors, acquired through more than 450 successful investments.
Its 154-strong investment team is organized into specialized sub-teams, enabling fine-tuned, targeted analysis of opportunities. The effectiveness of its model is underpinned by a sourcing team of over 70 people exploiting a proprietary database of 210,000 hypergrowth companies, optimized by Artificial Intelligence ("AI").
More than 60% of transactions come from this internal sourcing engine. At the same time, the 136-strong Insight Onsite operational team actively supports portfolio companies in their development (strategy, M&A, HR, sales, tech, etc.). Thanks to its tried-and-tested playbooks, veritable manuals of best practice, the Onsite team enables Insight to systematically create operational value in its portfolio companies and reduce the risk of its investments.
Insight defines itself as one of the world's leading software companies from a financial perspective, not as a private equity fund from a software perspective.
Outsized growth as a compelling investment criterion
Insight focuses on companies with proven technology, disrupting their markets and addressing very large customer bases in order to pursue growth ("scale-up").
The median annual sales growth rate of companies in which Insight begins to invest often exceeds 80%.
The quality and depth of Insight's track record, brand image and added value also enable it to attract the best entrepreneurs.
A strategy aimed at gradually strengthening its positions in top-performing companies
While Insight focuses mainly on growth equity and growth buyouts, the team also invests small amounts in less mature companies.
Thanks to its high fund size, Insight can then continue to finance the explosive growth of some of these less mature companies, by participating in the next financing rounds of the best among them.
In this way, Insight increases its exposure to the winning companies in its portfolio over time to generate very significant gains for its fund.
One of the world's best track records in Growth Tech
Insight Partners is one of the oldest private equity managers dedicated to the software sector. The firm has a particularly deep track record in this sector.
The expertise it has built up over its 30 years of existence has made it one of the world's leading Growth Tech players.
This is borne out by the performance of its funds: each of those launched between 2005 and 2018 has net investor returns ranked in the first quartile according to Pitchbook (Growth Equity& Buyout - World - 06/30/2024).
