Agreement with Space Force for R-GPS program
On September 23, 2024, the U.S. Space Force awarded four exciting agreements, including one to Sierra Space, to develop design concepts for the Resilient Global Positioning System (R-GPS) program. This ambitious program aims to strengthen the resilience of the GPS system by integrating innovative small satellites that transmit essential GPS signals.
Thanks to the "Quick Start" authority, Sierra Space was able to win this contract in less than six months, a remarkable feat in an industry often slowed down by long and complex processes. With the prospect of producing up to eight satellites by 2028, Sierra Space is positioned as a leader in space innovation, ready to meet contemporary challenges and guarantee critical navigation capabilities for both military and civilian users.
LIFE technology to redefine life in space
Sierra Space's LIFE (Large Integrated Flexible Environment) technology represents a major advance in space exploration. This three-storey structure, inflated in orbit, can accommodate four astronauts while providing space for scientific experiments, a medical center and the "Astro Garden" system for growing fresh produce.
Improvements include increased crew capabilities and optimized environmental and power management systems. LIFE redefines the way humans live and work in space, supporting long-duration missions.
These initiatives illustrate Sierra Space's commitment to innovation in the space sector, in collaboration with key players such as the Space Force.
