Iterative Scopes
American company Iterative Scopes has developed Skout, a cutting-edge algorithm for detecting polyps, benign tumors, thanks to an innovative use of artificial intelligence.
This technology enables real-time detection of suspicious tissue during colonoscopies, facilitating early detection of the first signs of lesions.
In 2022, Iterative Scopes signed a data-sharing agreement with Pfizer, aimed at accelerating the development of new treatments for patients suffering from inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The agreement also enables the company to improve its algorithms for assessing disease severity. Currently, these assessments often depend on the experience and intuition of doctors. The integration of artificial intelligence into colonoscopic imaging, combined with automated calculation software, enables video interpretation to be automated, offering more accurate and rapid analysis.
The company's founder, Jonathan Ng, has over 10 years' experience in the medical field, notably at Massachusetts General Hospital, as well as in setting up pediatric centers in Cambodia. Ng also founded the philanthropic organization "Children of Cambodia", which aims to improve the living conditions of children in Southeast Asia.
Following a car accident which resulted in a fractured wrist, Ng chose to end his surgical career to devote himself fully to medical research and Iterative Scopes.
