Visma, one of Europe's leading providers of cloud software for mission-critical industries, has announced the acquisition of a stake in Accountable, a Belgian company specializing in accounting and taxation for the self-employed. The Norwegian firm aims to strengthen its presence in the Belgian and German markets - as illustrated by its investment in Belgian software developer Bizzcontrol - and accelerate innovation by integrating expert, user-centric products into its portfolio, without disrupting the operational autonomy of the acquired companies.
With this investment, Visma is pursuing several strategic objectives: to consolidate its offering for self-employed workers, a fast-growing segment in Europe, seeking simple financial management solutions that comply with new regulatory obligations (such as forthcoming electronic invoicing in Belgium and Germany). In addition, this operation is part of a series ofrecent acquisitions that reinforce Visma's position as one of the major pillars of B2B software in Europe. "We have been following Accountable's development with interest for several years now, and have been particularly impressed both by the quality of the management team and by the remarkable intuitiveness and ease of use of their products", says Merete Hverven, CEO of Visma.
Founded in 2017 by Nicolas Quarré, Alexis Eggermont, Tino Keller and Hassan Ayed, Accountable quickly made a name for itself in Belgium and Germany with an intuitive app that enables the self-employed to simply manage their invoices, accounting, tax returns and relationship with accountants. Today, over 40,000 users rely on Accountable to automate their financial management with solutions powered by artificial intelligence.
