TA Associates Hg and New Mountain - 3 managers present on - are in the Top 20 of the HEC Paris - Dow Jones 2023 ranking. Vintage Altaroc
This ranking assessed the performance of 101 Private Equity firms having raised total capital of over $1.6 trillion through 352 funds between 2010 and 2019. It answers the question, "Which firms have generated the best performance for their investors in recent years?"
The top three positions in the ranking remain unchanged from last year: TA Associates, Veritas Capital and Francisco Partners are all based in the USA. This underlines the dominance of US-based funds, a situation also observed for 85% of the firms in the top 20.
TA Associates at the top of the ranking
The manager selected for Vintage Altaroc Odyssey 2023, TA Associates , as in 2022, occupies first place in the ranking.
"The stability of the major players in this year's ranking testifies to the resilience of leading Private Equity firms despite the recently tumultuous times in the global economy. Interest rates reached a 23-year high in the US, ranging between 5.25% and 5.5%, while in the UK, the key rate was maintained at 5.25%," analyzes Oliver Gottschalg, Professor at HEC Paris.
Present in the Vintage Altaroc Odyssey 2022, Hg reached the 4th position.
"The ranking shows the resilience of GPs focused on software buyouts, including Hg and Thoma Bravo, who have demonstrated their ability to navigate and thrive in this sector," comments Oliver Gottschalg.
Last but not least, New Mountain, the American manager selected for Vintage Altaroc Odyssey 2023, came 13th in the ranking.
