- Marlink has finalized the acquisition of the satellite communications business of Greek company Hellenic Radio Service (HRS).
After years of organic growth via its subsidiary Marlink CG based in the port of Piraeus (Athens), Marlink is strengthening its position and footprint in this strategic market. This acquisition enables Marlink to meet the growing demands of Greek shipowners in terms of service quality and customer support, with a range of intelligent solutions for the digitalization of ship operations.
- Marlink is helping to reduce plastic pollution in the oceans by contributing its intelligent connectivity solutions to the "Plastic Odyssey" global expedition.
Formerly an oceanographic vessel, Plastic Odissey has been transformed into a scientific exploration ship dedicated to the fight against plastic pollution in the oceans. During its 3-year expedition to the world's most polluted coasts, it took on board a small experimental mobile recycling center which collects and sorts plastic waste and turns it into useful objects, or even fuel. A mobile space, also on board the ship, enables experiments to be carried out on land with local residents at each port of call.
- Marlink has just added SpaceX's "Starlink" service to its offerings.
As an expert and pioneer in satellite communication solutions, Marlink will leverage Starlink - a high-speed, low-latency Internet service delivered by a constellation of satellites in low-Earth orbit - to complete its portfolio of smart connectivity network solutions and services dedicated to maritime businesses worldwide.
