Bringing electricity to remote villages
Yawa Kpodo is a farmer. She lives in the village of Agou Akploloe, Togo. Until now, her village had no access to electricity.
As Yawa explains, "I lived in darkness every day. My two children walked long distances to school. They hurried home to finish their homework before nightfall. They didn't have enough time to study. This was detrimental to their education. We had to rely on unreliable and expensive forms of energy, such as torches and candles, to support them".
Thanks to Sun King, it now benefits from reliable, efficient and affordable lighting.
"Since we've been using the Sun King Home 200X, my children's education has improved; they've moved up a grade. Now they rest when they come home at midday and study longer in the evening, thanks to the bright light from Sun King," she says, delighted.
Improving farmers' work
For Ablam Kloussou, also a farmer in Togo, the switch to a Sun King home solar system has been a game-changer: "The Sun King solar system has not only brought happiness to my family, it has also revolutionized the way I work," he explains.
Ablam can now keep his phone fully charged, so he can be reached at any time: "My phone no longer goes dead. I can charge it properly, so I can be reached at any time".
What's more, the Sun King solar system has had a direct impact on the profitability of his poultry farm. Previously, Ablam spent around 10,000 FCFA ($16) a month traveling to sell his chickens. "Now, this money is saved. I don't have to travel anymore. I just call my customers and they come straight to my doorstep to buy," he concludes.
