As the French unicorn, featured in Vintage Altaroc Odyssey 2021, points out, this number was calculated based solely on the device categories included in the ADEME study, i.e. smartphones, laptops, desktops and tablets, but does not take into account game consoles.
In 2022, smartphone manufacturing generated over 223 billion tonnes of CO2 emissions worldwide.
